I'm Okay.

I just wanted to let you all know I'm okay. I am thankful so many of you have been concerned for me. I got an emergency appointment with my pyschiatrist from the Acute Care Team on Monday and told him I wasn't coping. He agreed we will not try Epilim again and that we should go back to basics with Lithium again (although this time I am taking 900mg of the sustained release version)and we can add what we need to later on top of that if things get worse or don't improve.

I've found by informing myself with this condition and the variety of treatments available I am able to have some sort of input in how I wish to be treated. I have a list of medications I have tried and in what combinations, along with the side effects I experienced or if I felt it made some improvement. I also went in with a list of possible medications I thought may be worth trying, one of which was suggesting we try Lithium again.

We have agreed that for now, mood stabilizers are more important for my episodes than Anti Depressents, as it seems I'm rapidly cycling from depressive to hypermania episodes and he believes that I don't respond well to Anti Depressents and they just seem to upset the balance.

So for now we just be patient and I have regular weekly check ups until things are more stable.

Xx

  7. I've only just started reading your blog tonight. I have to agree that educating yourself is the most empowering thing you can do. If you feel it isn't working don't be afraid to go back and tell the doctors. I hope you start to see an improvement soon xx
